The second one is the single best value job in rendering. A full render and texture coat on a standard two storey brick home changes it completely for a fraction of what any other exterior change would cost.

Rendering over brick veneer, done properly

Brick veneer walls move. They are a single skin hung off a frame, and they expand and contract more than solid double brick does. If you render a long veneer wall as one uninterrupted panel it will crack, and it will crack in the same place every time no matter how many times you patch it.

The fix is control joints. We cut them in line with the existing articulation joints in the brickwork, and we carry them through the render rather than bridging over them. It is a detail that costs an hour and saves a repaint.

Granny flats and secondary dwellings

The Hills has a lot of granny flat approvals, and nearly every one of them ends up either blueboard or Hebel that needs a render and texture finish. We do a steady run of these and we can usually work in behind the builder without holding up the trades that follow.

Matching the finish and colour to the main house is the part people forget to ask for. Get it wrong and the secondary dwelling reads as an afterthought, which does the property value no favours.
