Salt, wind and west facing walls

Beachfront and headland properties take the full load. Salt spray, driving rain off the water and relentless afternoon sun on the western side. We treat anything within about five hundred metres of open surf as a coastal exposure job and coat it accordingly.

Colour choice matters more here than people expect. Dark colours on a west facing beach wall can hit surface temperatures well above fifty degrees on a summer afternoon, and that thermal cycling is what opens up hairline cracking.

Steep blocks and retaining walls

From Freshwater through to Bilgola, a huge number of blocks fall away hard from the street. That means retaining walls, and retaining walls that get rendered need drainage sorted behind them first. A rendered retaining wall with no ag line and no weep holes will hold water against the back face and blow the render off within a couple of wet seasons.

If the drainage is not there we will tell you before we quote the render, not after.
